The Youth Diabetes Care Network of Southeast Missouri Hospital received an $11,215 donation from the Cape Girardeau Kohl's store in 2007.

Southeast's programs for children with diabetes and their families include:

  • Telephone Lifestyle Counseling
  • Camp DAYBreak, a summer camp for children with diabetes offered in conjunction with the
    American Diabetes Association
  • Pediatric Endocrinology Clinic, in cooperation with Cardinal Glennon Children's Medical Center in St. Louis
  • Education programs on living with diabetes for children, parents, grandparents, caregivers and educators

As part of its Kohl’s Cares for Kids program, Kohl’s stores across the country will feature these special items for $5 each with 100 percent of the net profits benefiting children’s health and educational opportunities in Kohl’s communities nationwide. The items will also be available online at www.Kohls.com.

Locally, Southeast Missouri Hospital was designated as the local Kohl's Cares for Kids® partner hospital shortly after the Cape Girardeau Kohl's opened its doors in the spring of 2005. The Cape Girardeau Kohl's is located at 315 Shirley Drive which is west of Interstate 55 between Route K and Bloomfield Road.

The Kohl’s Cares for Kids program supports children’s health and educational opportunities, including the Children’s Hospital Program that supports children’s health initiatives across the country; the Kohl’s Kids Who Care scholarship program that recognizes kids who transform their local communities through volunteerism; an associate volunteer program that encourages volunteerism to benefit local youth-focused nonprofit organizations; and a gift card fundraising opportunity for local schools and non-profit youth groups.
